About Chevallum State School

As the only community building in Chevallum, the Chevallum State School provides a strong focus for members of the community. There are currently 500 students attending the school, with an overwhelming number of enrolments already in place for future years. The values of Chevallum State School are caring for ourselves, caring for others and caring for the environment.

In its 33rd year, Strawbfest is one of the most renowned and anticipated community events on the Sunshine Coast. Its a family friendly evening combining multicultural food, rides, music, entertainment and stalls and culminating with a fireworks finale.

As the major fundraiser for Chevallum State School, Strawbfest brings together the local community with the goal of enjoying a great night out and raising much needed funds for our children’s education. Built up over many years there is an amazing amount of goodwill and community spirit associated with the event.

Funds from previous years have been used to improve the education of the students. Some of the impacts have been:

  • Air conditioning classrooms
  • Wheel chair ramp
  • Covered walkways between classrooms
  • Educational programs and materials
  • And much more.
